Finalize The Splint

Recommended: All external shape, occlusion and structural components of the splint be established first.
[learn_more caption=”Basic Use” state=”open”] Finalization is the last step before Validating the splint and then exporting the splint to be manufactured. Ensure that you have calculated the Refractory Model (Undercut Removal and Compensation Gap). It is strongly recommneded that you Save Checkpoint before proceding so that you can easily revert to this step and re-finalize if needed. Press the button which says “Finalize the Splint” and choose options from the drop-downs in the pop-up menu.
When the operator is done (5 to 35 seconds), you will be presented with a view of a the Final Splint and the Trimmed Model. You should be able to see all of the Trimmed Model to ensure there is no encroachment of the Final Splint into the Trimmed Model surface. You may notice small islands floating above the surface which can be removed in the “Verify Splint” settings
If you do not see the result above, it’s most likely because of a boolean operation failure in processing the internal aspect of the splint. You can re-run the finalize splint operator by pressing the button again, and chossing different options for the solver.

- Finalization will cause the project to become less responsive becasse of the complexity of the multiple boolean operations. It is recommended to save a checkpoint before finalizing as it will be much easier to edit other parts of the project (For example, tweaking offset or undercut or changing oclcusal aspects) in the project where the splint has not yet been finalized.
